This was my final drawing for the perspective project. It was made using pencils and is in one-point perspective.
I learned a lot of new techniques while doing this project. Doing the tile, I learned the strategy on how to do accurate spacing while going back into perspective. This helped me a lot, and although it was rather tedious, I'm satisfied with the end result. Doing the cushions of the stools and booths, I improved my shading and value skills to show dimension.I definitely think my technique with using the different soft lead pencils and tortillions improved as well.
The main challenge while completing this project was time. I needed more than the time given to us to work on it in class. In order to get it done at time, a lot of work outside of school was involved. I think maybe spending so much time on measurements and planning was a mistake, I think I should have gotten to the final drawing faster than I did. I would have liked to add more details to it like napkins, ketchup bottles, and wall decorations but I ran out of time.
I tend to analyze my artwork once I see other peoples' or when I haven't looked at the work for a while. When I see another's art, I tend to compare it to mine. This is both good and bad because while it motivates me to do better, comparing your work to others isn't always the best thing to do. Since drawing takes me a long amount of time, I end up looking at the same image for a long time. For me, it can sometimes distort the actual image of what I'm really seeing. Between breaks I need to take a few steps back and then look at it. I considered how ideas would work before I tried them, since I spent a lot of time planning. I tried to see if 2 point perspective would work out better, or which angle would be most interesting. While it's good to consider options, I spent way too much time trying to plan it.
